A place for random photos and thoughts...maybe?

This started out as a work-related blog, then I stopped using it...now I'm thinking maybe it will be a place for photos other than my daily photo....

Coach’s Kid - 09/14/2010 - photo by Will Yurman
I was at a press conference this afternoon. The Rochester Knighthawks announcing their new head coach, Mike Hasen. Before things got going, and I took the obligatory man at microphone photo, I stayed near Hasen and his family, looking for an interesting moment to photograph.
His one-year-old daughter Lexie was wandering around when I took this photo of her, as she realized she was surrounded by very big men in suits and reached out to her dad for protection.

Jump For Joy - 02/09/10 - photo by Will Yurman
I went to photograph the Jump Rope for Heart at French Road Middle School. It may be my fourth time photographing the event where fifth graders raise money for the American Heart Association. It’s a gymnasium full of kids jumping rope and playing and having fun and a bit overwhelming at first as you look around for a good photo. I usually spend the first few minutes at these kinds of events just looking around, trying to figure out who to focus on and what to shoot. Sam Ravina was so full of energy and excitement he was hard to miss, and easy to photograph.

Rochester is home to the Toy Hall of Fame.  This video was an ode to the twelve nominees to the Hall for 2009.  Three toys were eventually selected for induction.  The music is a song I fell in love with at the Jazz Festival in 2008. The artist, Alison Brown, graciously allowed me to use it for the video.

The creatures were stirring at Mendon Ponds.  While the chickadees may be shy, deer, squirrels, geese and even frogs were out in the warm  late April sunshine.

A desperate attempt to be clever two springs ago, when assigned to do a daily video on the change of seasons.
